Similar to the vital signs profile (which captures a certain class of observations that are captured regularly for most patients and where there's a need for trending and baselining), there's also a need to standardize other patient characteristics which are more static. Things like blood type, genetic gender, gestational age at birth, etc. While some of these elements may occasionally change (e.g. blood type changing with a bone marrow transplant), in general they represent a single factual statement about the patient that holds over time, but is of interest for multiple clinical purposes. It would be useful to explore the creation of a subset of common clinically-relevant patient characteristics that could be standardized in the same manner as vital signs.

Criteria should include clinical relevance in multiple contexts, remaining generally static throughout a patient's lifetime and being consistently captured and understood by the community across the world.

This should not include clinical diagnosis information (e.g. genetic disorders) that would be more appropriately represented using Condition.
