Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS) are typically a combination of medical and non-medical services including activities such as adult day health services, habilitation, respite care, etc. These services may be provided in an institutional setting or in a home and community setting (the latter are commonly referred to as HCBS services). See the attached "eLTSS Service Plan_Background_2018-02-28.pdf" file for additional details on LTSS.
In LTSS services and service plans, cost information is a critical component. State Medicaid waiver programs must document, and service providers must be informed of, the authorized service unit cost and total cost.
Unit cost is the rate for one unit of the service, which could be a day, an hour, an installation, a meal, etc. Total cost is the total cost for the service under the plan. Cardinality for both should be 0-1.
