A Procedure, and request for a procedure (ServiceRequest), a device (DeviceRequest) or documentation of device use (DeviceUseStatement) have some ability to identify anatomical location for the procedure or request. However, none of these resources address anatomical approach site: _the anatomical site or structure through which the action represented reaches, or should reach, its target. This concept is distinct from the "anatomical location site" on which the procedure or device occurs. The distinction was brought to the US data modeling effort, Quality Data Model, by dentists suggesting variations in approach (i.e., _lingual Vs. buccal). The extent to which this issue is relevant requires some investigation by respective resource owners but it is important to consider specific applications. In many instances, the approach site and the anatomical location are incorporated into a pre-coordinated concept defining the procedure but it still should be considered as a metadata concept.
