The DiagnosticReport resource includes DiagnosticReport.result defined as "Observations that are part of this diagnostic report. Observations can be simple name/value pairs (e.g. "atomic" results), or they can be grouping observations that include references to other members of the group (e.g. "panels")." The challenge is that such groupings may not be individual discrete observation elements; they may be components of elements that relate to each other. If the Observation resource "component" is allowed, the definition isn't clear enough to represent that fact. An example: a PET scan result may compare Standardized Uptake Values (SUV) for various baseline body locations (blood pool, liver, spleen, etc.) and also SUV for abnormalities identified (i.e., lesions) and then include a comparison ratio of SUV readings for the lesions compared to the baseline. Each of these readings is a component of the reading, e.g.; (1) 2.4x3.2 cm lesion right lobe of liver (a) SUV = 8.9, (b) ratio Vs baseline = x. (2) comparison of SUV ratio with prior PET scan of same area = y
Please clarify in the definition and explanation if components are allowable, or add observation components if they are not allowable.
