      ISO 3166 3 letter codes can be used in place of a full country name.

      Comment:

      Comment suggests that only codes or "full names" are permitted. This suggests that "the United Kingdom of Great Britian and Northern Ireland" and "United Mexican States" are permitted, while "United Kingdom" and "Mexico" are not.

      Allow customary country names.

      (We may want to add text allowing non-country names as well to deal non-recognized jurisdictions. Or we may prefer to avoid that quicksand altogether.)
