      On a different tracker item, we've agreed to add a flag indicating whether the Questionnaire supports population, extraction or both (and which mechanism you're using for each). We will clarify that if you're using the Observation-based approach for both extraction and population, the observationLinkPeriod applies to both.

      Existing Wording: 1. To signal that the item.code is intended for use in extraction (as opposed to just providing metadata about the Questionnaire item), the questionnaire-observationLinkPeriod extension must also be included. This extension indicates the period of time over which to search for matching observations.

      Comment:

      This extension has two purposes, population as well as extractiion. I can imagine that not all situations in which population is required, extracting is also required. Is suggest to split them in two extensions.
