      Agreed, change to use pathway rather than protocol throughout

      1) Level of specificity, (i.e. the degree to which the guideline is explicit about specifying behaviors), ranging from specification of just recommendations and eligibility, up through and including longitudinal orchestration of care

      2) Level of flexibility, (i.e. the degree to which the actions to be taken are explicitly specified (what vs how)

      We use the term pathway for a more flexible representation of the guidance, as opposed to a protocol which would typically be a more rigid description of a particular process.

      Also note that depending on the guideline, there may be aspects of the pathway that are expected to be more rigid (i.e. closer to protocols), depending on the clinical specification.
