The base FHIR resource DiagnosticReport only allows the following types of subjects: Patient, Group, Device, Location. It is not possible to have a BiologicallyDerivedProduct as the subject of a DiagnosticReport.

If there is no patient, then the subject would not be reported, and the Observation.specimen would carry the desired information.

      Proposed resolution: Not persuasive</p>

GenomicsReport sometimes comes from a lab where the patient is deidentified. Specimen would be used instead of Subject, and when Subject is used, BiologicallyDerivedProduct should be allowed addition to Patient, especialy in cases for cell therapy or cord blood unit transplant.
