      Add Scoping Section for PAS
      In scope
      1) Prior Auth for services/devices performed/supplied by the ordering provider;
      2) Prior Auth for services/devices performed/supplied by a different provider where the ordering provider is required or permitted to request authorization for another entity to provide the services;
      3) Prior Auth for medications that are covered under a medical benefit;

      4)When Prior Auth is required by the rendering provider.

      Out-of-scope
      1) SHOULD not be used for any Medication that is covered under a prescription drug program benefit where PA is provided by another electronic exchange process (e.g. NCPCP Script)

      Change label on FHIR <-> to Clearing House or BA or Translation software

      Add to Note below diagram
      Note: In some cases, X12 Portion will be handled entirely within clearing House … and CH<>Payer will also be FHIR. In the event there is no requirement for FHIR<>X12 conversion, then 3., 4. and 5. will communicate directly with the Initial and pended PA process.

      Existing Wording: Note: In the U.S., prior authorizations for medications are typically dealt with through NCPDP and are currently out of scope for this implementation guide.

      Comment:

      It is suggested to establish a scoping section, i.e., in-scope and out-of-scope statements, instead of just a note in parenthesis.
