    • Hide

      The values in this value set are meant to represent the five different modes of radiation therapy (photons, electrons, protons, neutrons, and implants), without delving into more detail. It was felt by the radiologists who contributed to mCODE that this was the relevant minimal information. But the question is, should this_ preclude_ using more specific codes?

      We can revisit this issue with the mCODE TRG for addition in a future release. In the meantime, the RadiationProcedureVS value set is extensible and additional terms could be included in a FHIR instance if absolutely needed.

      Proposed Resolution: Considered for future use.

      Comment:

      RadiationProcedureVS of the CancerRelatedRadiationProcedure Profile

      Not sure why the RadiationProcedureVS is not defined to the domain: Radiation oncology AND/OR radiotherapy (procedure) (SCTID: 108290001), but limited to 5 values: Teleradiotherapy protons (procedure); Teleradiotherapy using electrons (procedure); Teleradiotherapy neutrons (procedure); Brachytherapy (procedure); Megavoltage radiation therapy using photons (procedure);
