Aggregate queries are introduced without fully describing their syntax.  We can see it by way of the examples, but it still would be helpful to first describe a few syntactical things such as:

• What the alias after the aggregate keyword represents
• What the default starting value is (assuming null)
• How the starting keyword can be used to set a different starting value
