The definition for author is “A party that originates the resource and therefore has responsibility for the information given in the resource and ownership of this resource”. During the reviews a distinction was made between the last person who touched the resource, who may be an administrative or other party who transposed the information, while another person, particularly a clinician, would have the responsibility for the information. The participant type of “enterer” would fit the first, while the type of “author” would fit the second. Additionally, there is a distinction between the original responsible party vs. the last one who made updates to the resource’s content. We suggest to update the guidance that either type value can be used to more accurately reflect the last person who touched it (optional as to which one or both a system may have), while indicating that the person with original responsibility for the resource’s content is always on the main resource itself.
