Add guidance on the QI-Core Profile page:
For profiles QI-Core inherits directly from US Core or FHIR, the underlying Reference elements can address the US Core or FHIR profiles for the items referenced.
Use language from the following link that provides guidance for US Core profiles: http://hl7.org/fhir/us/core/general-guidance.html#referencing-us-core-profiles.

There are a number of profiles QI-Core inherits directly from US Core or FHIR:

      • USCoreImplantableDeviceProfile
      • FHIR VitalSigns
      • USCore Smoking Status
      • US Core Laboratory Result
      • US Core Pediatric BMI for Age
      • US Core Pediatric Weight for Height
      • US Core Pulse Oximetry
The use of these profiles also inherits the underlying Reference elements, for example, FHIR Vital Signs references FHIR Patient and the US Core profiles reference US Core Patient. The QI-Core Profile page should include guidance that profiles inherited directly from FHIR or US Core should reference the QI-Core profiles with respect to referenced elements.
