Both short and long definition refer to this as "manufacturer". Most implementers have an intuitive sense of what a Medication "manufacturer" is - few if any will have a clue what a Medication "sponsor" is (except maybe as an advertiser?). Preferred solution is to change the name back to 'manufacturer' because while that's not precise, it's what most users understand - and FHIR is supposed to be understandable. If you have a really good reason for the change, you're going to have to define what 'sponsor' is and how it's not the same as manufacturer.
