The examples of the clinical workflow pattern use several states that are not in the "characteristic set of states" above. It would certainly be helpful if consistency were established whenever possible, to avoid situations where the same words are used with different meanings or even contradictory meanings. I'd like "cancelled" to always mean "cancelled before it started." Otherwise, I could foresee someone defining "aborted" to have the same meaning as "cancelled" or these two words could even flip flop meanings across different workflows, which would be very confusing (suppose someone used "aborted" before something started and "cancelled" after it started).
