      ClinicalImpression will not be renamed.

However, we will update ClinicalImpression scope/usage section to clarify an impression is a clinical summation of information and/or an opinion formed, which is the outcome of the clinical assessment process. The ClinicalImpression may lead to a statement of a Condition about a patient.

In FHIR, an assessment is typically an instrument or tool used to collect information about a patient.

Existing Wording: This resource is called "ClinicalImpression" rather than "ClinicalAssessment" to avoid confusion with the recording of assessment tools such as Apgar score.

      Comment:

I prefer to name the resource Clinical Assessment. I disagree with the reason for calling the resource "Clinical Impression." "Assessment" has been used widely in medical practice for a long time (e.g., the "A" in SOAP notes), and is still commonly used today. Just because there is a specific assessment tool such as Apgar doesn't mean that it hijacked the word "assessment" so that can't be used elsewhere! After all, there are specialized types of questionnaires, observations, procedures, interventions, etc., but none of them preempt the existence of generalized resources named Questionnaire, Observation, etc. FHIR should use commonly used healthcare terms, even though some terms may be used for multiple purposes, and clarify distinctions within its discussion.
