Proposed Wording: Add to the content description of an resource, a categorization under the Contsys concept
Comment:
ISO/FDIS 13940 (Contsys) is expected to be published within 6 months.
Contsys is a complete and comprehensive system of concepts for healthcare and includes a clinical process model for clinical context. This International standard has been developed during a long period of time and comments from all over the world has contributed to the content, which makes it robust and sustainable.
Contsys aims to become the common basis for global development of semantic resources for interoperability.
The current work with FHIR resources is not based on this system of concepts. The global efforts for harmonization would much benefit from using Contsys as the basis also for the FHIR resources.
In comparison the concepts in Contsys is mostly more generic than the FHIR resources. To start with the current FHIR resources could be categorized under the Contsys concepts with possibilities to further alignment later. Last summer we made a comparision between some Contsys concepts with relevant FHIR resources. We are glad to send the document to you.
