Define a modifier?:recurse to _include and _reverseInclude, which?recursively walks the path given in _include/_reverseInclude to fetch related resources.?The default is not to recurse. Group is not aware of user preference for one or the other, so chosing this as the default aligns with the design principle that we prefer to chose the cheapest option as the default in that case. Server can limit the recursion depth as needed.
