      Comment:

More clarification is needed around how to query for a subset of observations (vitals, labs, social history, etc.).

Due to the breadth of Observation, it will be very difficult for some vendors to process, page across, and produce Observations without grouping or limiting by a type. Further, applications may only want to trend vitals or display laboratory results. The only way to currently do this is to understand the entirety of the coding system the code is tied to. One option is to make the observation classification a first class element that is populated explicitly by the source system whereas another option would be a FHIR-defined value set that defines the scope of which codes universally represent the top 200 labs (for example).

The level of granularity requested is:

      laboratory

      vitalSign

      imaging

      measurement

      assessment

      socialHistory

      unknown

Allow type to search parameters for Observation
