The current SOA page with background (http://hl7.org/fhir/2015May/soa.html) will be moved to the Wiki.

The Services page (http://hl7-fhir.github.io/services.html) will serve as a hub with links to concretely described services pages much like the terminology services page (and later ServD, CDS...) and point to the background information on the Wiki and will include guidance of how to map existing Service functional models to FHIR (e.g. treating state, identity, aggregation etc.).

Most of the current information is "living" information, representing experience gathered at connectathons and is not normative and is better off being in the Wiki.

Information on the service page that will remain is information about how basic SOA principles are to be followed in the FHIR specification and by implementers (including references to the existing HL7 services specifications).

      Comment:

As it stands, the services component within the specification are in danger of becoming unused and irrelevant. We request that SOA should define practical implementation guidelines for implementers to build services. Without that information, few outside of the SOA community have any reason to investigate further
