      Comment:

      Vaccine type needs to be able to identify vaccine administered for both historical dose records (where exact formulation is not known) and adminsitered doses, where the trade name is known and may be important.

      In the V2 world, this is handled by CVX and MVX (manufacturer codes). It could also be handled by using NDC for adminsitered doses and CVX for historic dose records.
